CAA's 11th Moebius Film Festival: Unveiling the Next Generation of Storytellers (2026)

CAA's Moebius Film Festival: A Platform for Emerging Talent

The 11th edition of CAA's Moebius Film Festival is set to take place on May 27-28, offering a unique opportunity to showcase the work of graduate student filmmakers from top film schools across the United States. This year's lineup features a diverse range of short films, each bringing a distinct voice and perspective to the festival.

One of the highlights of the festival is the introduction of Moebius Labs, a series of workshops and informal conversations that provide participating filmmakers with direct access to key film and TV creatives, producers, and executives. This initiative aims to foster a more direct exchange between emerging filmmakers and established industry professionals, offering valuable insights and mentorship.

The festival's lineup includes films from Columbia University's Greta Diaz Moreau with 'Loquita Por Ti', Chapman University's Aidan Forte with 'Becoming', New York University's Harold Kahane with 'The Alternative Resolution', University of Texas at Austin's India Opzoomer with 'Poster Boy', and NYU's Rubing Zhang with 'Dongmei'.

On the second night, attendees can expect screenings of Club Rats by American Film Institute's Grace Godvin, Aayat by University of Southern California's Sonia Bhatia, Beware The Wolves by AFI's Alex Bush, Norheimsund by NYU's Ana Alpizar, and Kumquat by Florida State University's Lex Lee Morales.

CAA Moebius has been a driving force in supporting the next generation of storytellers, as stated by the program's founders: 'Over the past 11 years, Moebius has continued to grow alongside the filmmakers who have come through the program. With the introduction of Moebius Labs, we wanted to create a more direct exchange between emerging filmmakers and established creatives working at the highest levels of the industry.'

This year's festival also features special appearances by Palm Springs filmmaker and Moebius alum Max Barbakow, and an Oscar-winning writer and director, who will host evenings and deliver opening remarks, celebrating the festival's diverse and ambitious lineup.

The Moebius Film Festival is a testament to CAA's commitment to nurturing talent and providing a platform for emerging filmmakers to showcase their work. It serves as a vital stepping stone for these artists, offering them a chance to gain exposure, feedback, and industry connections, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of the film industry as a whole.
