Essay about How to Manage Stress - Free Essay Example - EduBirdie
And last but not least, what about the scenarios of stress when it appears there is nothing we can do? When it is totally out of our hands or control? When we call our friends and they are just as confused and upset about the same things? Many things come to mind when I imagine these kinds of stressors: politics, pandemics, illnesses, etc. And for me, the best and only thing that can be done when it feels like there is nowhere else to run is to pray. Pray to your higher power, pray to a God you’ve always wondered if is real. Seek the spiritual strength to continue, and I can almost guarantee, the universe (or a real and personal God) will come and give everything you need to you.
To me the anecdote of stress is balance. Stress as an emotion is chaotic, it feels overwhelmed, overworked, or overlooked. It is a signal from our heart that we need to take a break. To reflect. We need to ask ourselves what our bodies and souls need, and adhere to their often simple request. When I feel stress, I take the time to ask myself what I need. What is it that I am stressed about? What can I do to put myself more at ease in this area of my life? For most things I get stressed about, there is something in my control that I can do as a response. If I am stressed about my internship or an assignment, I work on it. If I am stressed about a relationship, I call them. If I am stressed about a bad grade, I talk to a friend about it. Other times, I treat myself to ice-cream, cry, watch comedy, take a nap, journal, and more. Students facing stress are advised to attend stress management courses which will help them to build up their future life and give them brilliant motivations in order to increase their self-evaluation. For me as a student, I deal with stress at about an average level. I think about my assignments often, but don’t overwork myself into the wee hours of night. My father raised me with the attitude that you only produce good work when you have a good night’s rest, so when I need to sleep, I sleep. This attitude of first listening to my body and soul before pressuring myself to work hard has influenced my ability to handle stress in multiple different scenarios and circumstances. As a full time student at ASU, I simultaneously manage my classes, two part-time jobs, and an internship. I am not boasting, most students involve themselves in extracurriculars and jobs to be connected and grow in their skills, but I am showing you that I do deal often in what others would label as “stressful” seasons of life, if business and stress can be adequately equated. Students often feel overwhelmed by the increased workload associated with college-level coursework. This realization can blindside students and contribute to stress and anxiety. In many classes, exams make up a large percentage of students’ grades, causing and finals to be more stressful than normal. As I write this essay, national and personal stress levels are at an all time high. With a global pandemic, a yet unsettled national election, instability in all areas of life, and more; we are all dealing with rare circumstances none of us could say we were ready for. How do we keep our cool through all of it? Where is peace in the middle of these storms?
